Define A-Name Record
Question
How do I define my A-Name record for a domain hosted by a QWK.net Shared Hosting account?
Answer
You will need your QWK.net Shared Hosting account login credentials.
1. Go to customers.qwk.net, click on account management and log in.
2. Click the 'Domains' icon.
3. Select the domain you wish to edit from the list of your domains.
4. Click the edit icon in the 'DNS Configuration' field.
5. Click the 'Add DNS A Record' link to create a new A-Name record.
- You will need to click the trash can next to any A-Name record that you intend to change before creating the new record.
6. In the Add DNS A Record screen you will be asked for Name, TTL, and Data.
- Name will stay blank if you are pointing the base level of the domain, if you are attempting to point a third level domain (example.yourdomain.com) you will type in the first piece of the domain (example).
- TTL is how long the record is good for, or how long the record will be stored in servers around the world before refreshing.
- Data is where you will put the IP Address of the new A-Name Record.
- If any of the fields have invalid information a red exclamation point will appear next to the offending field of information.
7. Click submit and the new A-Name Record should begin working across the world within 24-48 hours.
